Photo backup: laptop to NAS and cloud

A three-copy backup for the photo library: the laptop, a small NAS at home, and an offsite cloud copy.

Three copies

The working library lives on an external SSD. A nightly sync copies it to a two-bay NAS in the closet, mirrored. The NAS uploads to a cloud bucket once a week.

The catalog

Lightroom backs up its catalog on quit. Point that backup at the NAS, not the laptop, and keep the last ten.

Test it

Every quarter, restore one random folder from the cloud copy and open it. A backup you have never restored is a guess.
